Origin

Sesame Seeds are the oldest oilseed plants in the world. The plants grown in tropical regions are said to have been originated in the East Indies. White Sesame Seeds are obtained after removal of the hull, a light brown covering over the seeds.

Cooking Uses

White Till is commonly used in Middle Eastern and Asian dishes. It's used in bakery products like bread and buns, as well as in a lot of Indian sweets like Chikki and Till Ladoo. The toasted seeds are used on top of stir-fries, salads, and soups. The raw sesame seeds are also made into a paste called Tahini which is a principal ingredient in hummus.
